The half-slotted corrugated box with
cover differs from a partial telescope (below) in that its cover
is less than two-thirds of the depth of the body section. This style
is used as a combination shipping and shelf package and in other
applications where the cover must be removed and replaced repeatedly.
The cover may be a design style, as illustrated, or may be a half
slotted style. (Any half-slotted container may have a design style
top section or vice versa.)
A single half-slotted style box, inverted,
is used quite extensively as a 'slip cover' for batteries. It is
also used for refrigerators, washing machines, etc. In these packages
the bottom frequently consists of a wooden frame. The inverted half-slotted
box covers the product and is securely fastened, sometimes with
flanges, to the frame.
